The Boulder A-Lodge is the trailhead to adventure in the foothills and Indian Peaks Wilderness. Access to crags, trails and the Boulder bike path are just steps away. After a long day on the trail, wash off in Fourmile Creek, which runs through the A-Lodge property. If ice baths aren’t your thing, enjoy a relaxing soak in the pool or hot tub. All meals will be held at the A-Lodge (except for one night in downtown Boulder, just minutes away), in their outdoor pavilion or inside at the community room and saloon. Enjoy your trail run adventure getaway while staying at this rustic (yet modern) retreat HQ – the Adventure Lodge.

Nope! This retreat is for runners of all abilities. You will have the opportunity to go shorter or longer on the runs, and will have three guides to assist different paced groups. It is advised that you’ve been on a trail before, as 90% of this retreat will be run on trails.
Boulder is located at about 5,500ft and the highest we will climb is 8,500ft. It is hard to say how the altitude will affect anyone person, since we are all different. Generally, you will want to focus on staying hydrated, and making sure you taking in proper nutrition during activity. You’ll find that breathing can be a bit harder, but adjusting to a relaxed pace will help you feel more comfortable. One trick that may help you prepare: Train in the warmer hours of the day to increase your heart rate, thus experiencing fatigue at a quicker than normal rate. This is comparable to what it will feel like at altitude.
Trail routes may change depending on any closures or maintenance, but here is a tentative run schedule.
Yes! Happy to make sure you can enjoy the tasty meals safely 🙂 Let us know your dietary restriction/s on the participant Q&A after you sign up for the retreat.
Weather is always unpredictable in the mountains, so we advise you include a variety of apparel layers. Tank, short-sleeve and long sleeve shirts, shorts and 3/4 tights, socks. 2 pairs of trail shoes, so you don’t have wet feet every day. A hat, Buff, sunglasses, and sunblock. Hydration system that can carry 1.5 liters or more of water. Snacks and energy nutrition for the runs. A light rain jacket (and a light wind jacket if you have one). Oh! And one non-spandex outfit for when we have an evening out on Pearl Street.
